Who can apply

This qualification has been designed for people with a background in computer science or engineering. If you have a relevant bachelor's degree, this is an opportunity to advance your skills and experience and improve your job prospects. International students are welcome to apply and must meet our English language requirements.

*A $10,000 NZD scholarship towards tuition fees is available for international students who meet the entry requirements for the Master of Engineering Practice, starting in November 2017.

Programme outline

This is a full-time, 180-point Master's programme. You will complete the qualification in three consecutive trimesters over 12 months at Victoria University's School of Engineering and Computer Science

Part one

Research and Communication Skills - 15 points
Engineering Practice - 15 points

Choose one of two streams:

Full Stack App Development - 15 points
Database System Development - 15 points

Musical Mechatronics - 15 points

Mechatronic Design - 15 points

Part two

Engineering project - 30 Points
2 courses from Electronics, Networking, Software or Computer Science - 15 points each

Part three

Industry Research and Development Project - 60 points
This project will be undertaken with an industry partner, under the supervision of an academic. Past industry placements include companies such as Google, Xero, Datacom, Weta Digital, IBM, Trade Me and 2degrees.
